Our Community Driven Internship Program

Our Mission

To empower young people by providing them with the opportunities, resources, and clear path needed to build successful careers and grow into responsible, productive individuals, making a lasting impact on our communities.

The Problem

I’ve opened and run nearly a dozen companies from being a personal trainer in my early twenties and owning a laundry business, to running a remodeling and handyman company in my late 30’s.  My business partner and I have worked with young people for more than 30 years and recently we have noticed that there are fewer and fewer young people going into the trades field.  We have built nearly 10 carwashes and all the electricians, plumbers and welders are 50 years old or older, there are no young people to take over these companies.

The Solution

With the support of my wife, who has 25 years of experience in education, we seek to persuade the local high school administration of the importance of offering students alternatives to the traditional college path.  We currently offer seniors who qualify in the last 6 months of their senior year an opportunity to do an internship with us at 1 of our 4 local carwashes. During their internship if they are reliable, dependable, trustworthy, and have a willingness to learn we will offer them a job around their sports and high school responsibilities.

At our car washes, we do all our own maintenance, including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, welding, mechanical repair, and replacing motors, air cylinders, solenoids, motherboards, computer, and camera systems.  Employees are also challenged to do sales and interact with customers and team members, allowing them to grow independently and as a part of a group. When building our washes we also do all our own permitting, zoning, designing, and attending all engineering meetings.

Once the senior graduates we offer them a full-time position which they must hold for one year. Once they have completed their one year with us and continue to show improvement and desire to be better, we will offer to pay for them to go to any local trade school and take any one of 5 trades classes: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, and mechanical.  During their 12-14 month schooling, they will go to school part-time and work for us part-time. This will ensure they learn how to juggle life and multiple responsibilities not only to themselves but to others as well.

The Goal

Once they graduate from trade school we will offer them one of four options.

  1. Get on our management program and earn the opportunity to become an assistant manager and then a store manager.  Most of our managers have come up from being part-time employees, so we have a clear path to success. Our managers currently make between $50,000 and $70,000 a year.

  2. Work for our sister company WashDOC and do maintenance and repairs for other carwashes. Depending on your skill level, make between $25.00-$50.00 an hour.

  3. We help place you with a professional in your field to help you gain the experience needed to be successful. Our dedication to you is only to help you be a better person. Currently, licensed electricians and plumbers are making between $150- $300 an hour. The next trades men and women are the future millionaires. 4. If you are an exceptional person and dedicated to your profession, we will fund and direct you in opening your own company.

Internship Success Stories

  • Rey N. was our first intern in 2021 and worked for us for nearly two years and we helped fund the purchase of tools and machinery he needed. Rey is one of those exceptional young people that I was referring to and we would gladly fund him to begin his own company.

  • Ian T. was an employee for over 4 years at our Lakeland location. Ian is also exceptional and was our youngest manager ever. He decided he wanted to go back to school and stepped down from the management position so he could focus on studies.  We paid for Ian to attend the local trades college and worked around his school schedule. Once he graduated, he found a position with a local electrical company and is flourishing in his new career.

  • Matthew R. Is our most recent intern and is currently in the 3rd month of his one-year full-time position. Matthew is an interesting young man who has a knack for mathematics and is currently trading stocks online but has an interest to attend electrical school in Fall of 2025.  Soon we will begin to challenge him with the opportunity to work with our maintenance team to help him learn some skills before attending school.

  • Landon just turned 18 and has worked for us for over a year. He is a fantastic employee and has a great character. We are offering to pay for his schooling in Fall of 2026. He is still undecided in his profession, but he has time to decide and gain as much knowledge as possible.
